Jabali Game and Nature Reserve is a private and exclusive destination only 45 minutes from Pretoria, South Africa. Luxury, private chalets with incredible views, overlooking unspoilt bushveld. Jabali means "Small Mountain" and Wild Pig. Jabali, as the name indicates is located at the foot of a mountain aptly named "Rhenosterkop" approximately 45 minutes from Pretoria. (We also have plenty Wild Pigs!)
Jabali is a private nature reserve with spectacular views over Gauteng. Only 70 km from Pretoria, it is accessible and easy to reach by tar road.
Jabali offers the most spectacular hiking trails encompassing wetlands, mountain and grassland.
Jabali is of great historical importance. During the Boer war the English and Boers battled it out at Rhenosterkop. You will find all kinds of interesting artifacts around the mountain. Visit the graves of the English and the Boers and follow in the footsteps of the early pioneers.
Activities
There are many different ways that you can enjoy yourself at Jabali. .
Jabali has more than 34 km road to travel by foot, horseback (we provide professional stabling for your horse) or mountain bike (bring your own). If you prefer the less formal roads and require a more difficult and challenging route, then you can follow the myriad of paths that crisscross Jabali.
Jabali has a clear pool that you can laze in for hours or you can even enjoy a dip in the warm dams.
Our mountain is one of the best Para Gliding and Hang Gliding locations in South Africa. We can teach you to hang glide and you can enjoy the most spectacular views tandem jumping with professionals. Hang gliding is only available weather permitting.
Hang gliding is a once in a lifetime experience. Our world-class instructors will teach you how and enjoy magnificent tandem jumps from Jabali. Weather permitting and by prior arrangement only. Require a minimum of 4 guests.
Our pool is very welcome when it's hot! Relax next to the pool and enjoy the views overlooking Mpumalanga!
At Jabali we have 2 small dams that have a variety of common fish. Definately for the amateur fisherman or kids. Within walking distance is the big Wilge River for a enjoyable professional fishing experience.
Of course on horse back is still the best way to experience nature! Bring your own horse and we will provide stabling. Unfortunately we do not provide horses, only stabling for your own.
Mountain biking is a favorite pastime at Jabali. We have more than 35 km roads for you to enjoy.
Accommodation
At Jabali you will stay in a luxurious 5 star Chalet designed for your comfort and pleasure. The chalets have 2 bedrooms, lounge and open plan kitchen. Each chalet has it's own private veranda with stunning views. The Chalets are fully fitted and serviced every day. The African Thatch Chalet
The African Thatch Chalet is spacious and very roomy. It consists of the main bedroom, a loft bedroom and a bathroom with outside shower. The open plan lounge is large with large sliding doors that open onto the very large porch. The roof is very high and this creates a very cool environment even on the hottest days. The thatch chalet has it's own Weber braai, but you are welcome to use the braai at the entertainment area. The chalet is fully fitted and serviced. Approximately 50 steps away is the central entertainment area with a sparkling pool and lapa, shared with the Canadian Log Cabin.
Canadian Log Cabin
The Canadian Log Cabin provides a special ambiance. Cosy and very different with magnificent views over Jabali, this is an experience that you will not easily forget. The log cabin sleeps up to 6 people (4 adults and 2 children). The log cabin consists of 2 bedrooms and a loft with a stunning outside shower. The porch is comfortable and very cosy. 30 Steps away is the central entertainment area with a sparkling pool and lapa that you share with the Thatch Chalet.

This private reserve encompasses 2 300 acres of pristine African Highveld. Bisected by 2 mountain fountains covering more than 12 kilometres and the majestic Rhenosterkop mountain. It is wild, with cliffs, clear streams, high mountain lookouts, shady valleys and grass-covered plains.
Jabali is home to many of Africa's major mammals and over 280 bird species. Mammal sightings can include many buck, monkeys and our own resident band of more than 40 baboons!
